Internets and BFF's

When I started this here blogity blog and joined wardrobe_remix about 6 months ago, I really didn't comprehend the amazing social aspect of it all. Between the blogosphere and flickr groups and the overlap between the two, it's so much fun to "meet" so many wonderful gals around the globe with similar interests and creative perspectives to share.

It's especially cool as someone who is a bit shy and would definitely not classify herself as socially outgoing in the "real world". Meeting new people has always been somewhat of a challenge for me, so this is really a fun experience. Not to mention, the large majority of my time these days is spent hangin' with my pre-toddler, which is no doubt a beautiful thing, but lets just say adult interaction is always welcome :)

Speaking of wonderful gals around the globe, there happens to be one in particular who has come to feel like a dear old friend even though we've only been corresponding for a matter of months and have never actually met. Me in California, her in Finland, brought together by our uncanny appreciation for the same types of styles and a series of magical coincidences which continue to weave there way through our lives on a regular basis, somehow making this friendship seem destined to be.

I'm sure a lot of you already know I'm talking about Milla or if you know her from flickr, the lovely and ever stylish, sunshineupton. I've sung her praises before, so I won't let this turn into a complete gush fest, but I did want to share this amazing outfit that just arrived in her latest care package that I was SO excited to get over the weekend...

The dress was a castoff that she rescued from Buffalo Exchange limbo last summer while in Portland, but the fit just wasn't right on her (I believe she used the term muu-muu to describe) so she passed it on to me in hopes that it would find the perfect home. Well, I'm here to tell you that it definitely did, and I don't think it could be more perfect! Especially when paired with the adorable little girl silhouette pendant she sent...

... and my cheapo-red-mary-janes-turned-fabulous with the awesome little clip-on shoe bows that came as well! Thanks Milla for hookin' a girl up with the perfect red, white, and blue summer outfit :)

More treasures! The very cool postcard in the middle is from Anja's awesome clever nettle Etsy shop, bringing the total to two items that took the "scenic route" to me from Portland via Finland :D

This is Jean Jeans, the coolest vintage French paper doll from the seventies that ever was, complete with pages of fabtastic denim outfits!!!

Oh Milla, you know me too well! Thank you soooo so much! You truely are the best internets friend a girl could ever have! Also, thrifted treasures will be making there way across the globe to YOU shortly, including a piece from the magical flea market tarp o' vintage goodness :D

Wow, you look so amazing!
It's so sweet of Milla to send this to you and for being such a good friend for you.
I know what you mean about being shy and not a person who makes close friends easily..

I must say i am very happy with the sweet comments i get on my blog, and with some of the poeple i really feel some kind of a connection (like friends..?). It's strange, because you don't really know each other, but sometimes you just feel certain things, without really knowing a person.

I hope you know what i mean.

Great post, dear!!

Mila.

What a fabulous parcel to receive! The dress looks so perfect on you, and that denim scrapbook looks like exactly your cup of tea as well.

I've always had a pretty active online friendship community through forums, but I'm loving the new people I'm finding through blogging (and Flickr too, although I don't have enough time to get on there properly).

i feel as if i could copy and paste this post into my own blog as if i'd written it myself it rings so true! i feel the same way!!!
i love all of my "real life" friends but there is something different i am sharing with my "online friends" that is gratifying in it's own unique way.
everything you got in the care package is awesome - how sweet!
i have so enjoyed reading your blog and viewing your amazing style - you really DO make your outfits look completely effortless and yet completely cool. you never appear to be trying to hard or like you are trying to be someone you're not. i really admire that.

I'm so happy we have gotten to "meet" Missakin. It's wonderful to know that someone all the way the world totally gets you. Sort of really magical. I also hope that some day soon we'll get to meet for real and then we can go thrifting and bowling and you can teach me how to surf.

I'm so glad you liked everything and tickled that of course it turned into a red-white-and-blue outfit!
That dress is just so wonderful on you!, sigh. And YOU managed to figure out which way around it goes on, it's weird right, those buttons and hooks?

I can't believe you got me something from the magic tarp of vintage awesomeness! How lucky am I ?
Very lucky to have such a marvelous internets sister.

Andrea - I'm so glad to have 'met' you too!

Mila - Thanks so much!... and I do know what you mean, totally.

Diane - Thanks, I know, isn't the necklace darling!

Skye - Thankyou thankyou! It's true, there's only so much of this online business one can fit into a two hour nap span!

thefashionmaven - Aw, thanks so much, that's one of the sweetest comments I've received. I'm really enjoying your blog as well. You have wonderful style, mad thrifting skills, and you're funny as heck. What more could a girl ask for in a blog!

Milla - Magical indeed, and I hope so too! Going thrifting with you would be a dream come true :)

And yes, the hooks and buttons were a little tricky at first but I'm a pretty smart cookie so I figured it out ;)

Richel and Emily - Thanks you guys
for the comments and for stopping by!

I'm right there with you, Missa. Flickr and blogging have been such a wonderful way to connect with gals with the same interests. What lovely gifts! That dress looks like it was made for you.

This is all so great! The shoes are the sweetest! And I am surprised to learn that I started reading your blog not too long after it started.

Stoked to know about Jean Jeans (I would fully wear those overalls and am wearing a very similar calico prairie skirt right now). I am having so much fun learning about so many different paper doll books and characters. I have a super soft spot for the 60s and 70s ones.

Mycie is really good about letting me handle the cutting and dressing of all the dolls for now. She just likes to watch and then hold them for a bit.
