This week in the 100% Thrifted flickr pool, IBeliveInUnicorns inspired me to hit the sleepwear section at my local thrift store (you'll have to check back later this week to see what I scored). She made this dress by removing the sleeves from and shortening a thrifted nightgown! What a wonderful job she did too, I think it's absolutely adorable with that delicate floral pattern and the ric rac trim. The addition of the belt polishes the look off perfectly, transforming the shape into that of a dress. I should also mention it's not the first time she's worked her magic on a thrifted nightgown, how cute is this?
Apparently her magical powers do not end with the ability to transform a thrifted nightie into a darling dress. Now this, in my opinion, illustrates perfectly all that is good about pattern mixing. I LOVE the stripes surrounded by all those florals, so much visual interest yet nothing looks clashy or out of place... it's brilliant!... and don't even get me started on the wall of awesomeness she stands before in all her wonderfully put together outfits! In short, IBelieveInUnicorns' style is always utterly charming with just enough whimsy thrown in to make you want to believe in unicorns too ;)

Great pick!! That dress is to die for!
Oh and any sign of my package yet? (USPS better get it's act together soon!)
such an adorable dress! great pick (:
oh wow!!!!
What a cool idea to look in the sleepwear section!
Unfortunately in my town we dont have many good thrift shops..the majority are full of clothes too old and ruined to do anything with. But next time I go into the city and i am sooo going to try this!
I guess you would pick up even more gems in the sleepwear section as other people wouldnt think to look there!
Oh yeah...the sleepwear section is where it's at. I've found many a forgotten beauty there. Good pick!
That would be my daughter all grown up. As an 8 year old she proudly mixes her stripes, polkadots, florals and leopard tights any day of the week. I love the plum colored wall behind Ibelieveinunicorn. Amazing.
I am so nightgown inspired now, I have a couple beautiful ones that are just not the right shape for public use, lol. There is nothing like the feel of the soft cotton, would love to wear one all day.
Ahhhh, I love this! :)
Thanks so much for your comments ladies!
Milla - No sign of your package yet :( I'm so excited to see what it is though! I'll be anxiously keeping my eye out for it and will definitely let you know when it gets here... hugs!
Selena - Your daughter sounds like one hip little lady :) I can't wait to see what crazy outfits mine will come up with some day!
Gorgeous looks!
I love the bag at the second picture....
Hope you're doing fine!
Mila.
