When you make something beautiful, you are an artist.

While I'm on the subject of vintage kid's stuff, I thrifted this 1960's Golden Book Encyclopedia for a dollar awhile back and have been meaning to share it. The book is full of wonderful images and I get a kick out of reading the charmingly simplistic explanations of things:

What I reeeally love about it though, are the beautiful full-page letter illustrations at the beginning of each section. Each is depicted with things that start with that letter. They're all pretty amazing, but I'll leave you with some of my favorites:

Hi Missa

I love these illustrations! :)

I have a bit of a weird question - I think, as a newbie to Flickr and w_r, I didn't really examine people who added me as a contact too closely. I've spent half an hour this evening going through them and blocking quite a few who have photostreams that make me very uncomfortable. Do you find this happens too? Unsavoury types adding you? I don't want to think I'm doing anything to attract this kind of weirdness :(

Anyway, will be more stringent with contacts from now on.

Thanks!

Andrea

What a great quote--and I love that B! Is the artist listed anywhere, perhaps on the verso of the title page?

I love old kids books and you seem to be the queen of them! Wow. And that quote really is wonderful.
