Thwarted birthday plans aside, I did receive some lovely gifts. I wanted to share these wonderful vintage treasures passed on to me by Lucas’ mom: an awesome collection of plastic belt buckles, some beautiful buttons, and a gorgeous little red suede belt lined with teeny tiny brass studs… best mother-in-law EVER! I suggest clicking to full-size to see all the amazing details :)
While on the subject of gifts, I also wanted to share the darling contents of a lil' package I received recently from cyber-friend and fellow lady-of-the-thrift, Caroline. In one of her outfit photos on flickr, I had noticed a little white bee hanging on her wall in the background and commented on liking it.
Turns out the white bee was originally a thrifted gold bee (that she painted) AND it had a twin that she so kindly offered to me. So, my golden bee buzzed all the way from Hawaii to California and, much to my delight, brought with it some adorable thrifted goodies for Clover as well!
Caroline actually made the wee pinafore from thrifted sheet fabric, I love the heart buttons! Lucky for Clover it was too small for it's intended owner, and her being the miniature child that she is, it of course fits perfect with just enough room to grow into for Spring. The little vintage storybook has the most adorable animal illustrations, and how cute are those tiny shoes... with ankle straps?! I would love a pair in my size!
When I opened the package, after oohing and ahhing over how cute the shoes were, I went to try them on Clover and realized they matched perfectly with the orange outfit she just happened to be wearing at the time. It was definitely a Cinderella moment, when I slipped them on her tiny feet to find that they were a perfect fit! They made a tapping sound on our wood floors that she loved. I took this photo right after she finished tap dancing around in them :)

What a lovely swap package! Lucky Clover, those shoes are A for Adorable.
Are at least some of those buckles Bakelite? I have some similar ones and most of them are bakelite - which makes them quite collectible.
Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday! :)
What pretty gifts you got, the belt buckles and buttons are so pretty! And the things you got for clover are so sweet! I would wear those shoes as well, if they were my size!
Happy belated birthday! That really is an impressive haul of belt buckles you got there, and Clover's shoes are too cute.
happy belated birthday from me too! those yellow shoes are just about the best thing ever! I love all the other stuff too - so much to choose from!
Belated happy birthday! It looks like you received some wonderful things--isn't it great when that happens?
Oooh, what will you do with all of those glorious buckles?
Oh man, I think I just drooled on the keyboard. THOSE BUCKLES!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
it may be a bit late but my wishes for your health and happiness are no less sincere!
Lovely gifts for a lovely lady! Those buckles so remind me of putting similar ones on my XXL t-shirts in the 80s. :) And Clover looks so cute in the new shoes!
Happy belated birthday, Missa!
xoxo
Happy Belated Birthday!! Sorry about your meal. Those little booties so cute for Clover!
Happy Birthday!
What lovely gifts... gotta love those shoes!
I agree, lucky Clover. Those shoes are so so so cute!
Your mother in law's gift is awesome too. Those buckles certainly come in handy. I try to make fabric belts in odd colours to match all those outfits that nothing really matches.
Plus I shipped your package the other day!
Well any package of goods would look good arranged so neatly and mixed in with other pretty things of yours! I'm so glad you liked everything, but now that I realize it was your birthday I'm feeling very bad for only focusing on Clover. Next time...
Happy Birthday, Lady!
How adorable!!!!! Happy birthday!!! Those shoes are perfect for Clover!
Happy, happy birthday Missa!! I love those belt buckles, I WANT!
Gorgeousness - Clover is such a sweetie and those shoes are too cute.
