100% Thrifted Pick of the Week (2.17.09)
I really like how all the pieces in this outfit come together. The contrast between the solid brown trench and the colorful plaid dress is wonderful and I like how garconniere brought out the dress colors with the scarf, tights, and socks too. Not to mention, I’m completely in love with her shoes!
Check out the 100% Thrifted flickr group for more fabulous fully thrifted outfits.
It’s funny, I’ve never really been into trench coats before... not that I didn’t like them, I’ve just been sort of ambivalent toward them. Lately however, they seem to be popping up all over the place and in some really cute ways that have indeed been catching my eye.
Some more girls from street style blogs and wardrobe_remix who have me seeing the trench in a new light:

i so know what you mean about the trench coat--i was ambivalent about them, too, but i think they have an outdoor 'cardigan effect' (i like to call it :) where they sort of magically go with everything! it's one of those weird, happy, useful things :) thanks for the feature, lady-friend :) !!! also i love your new thrifted jeans and am currently searching for a version good for short girls....xoxooxooxx
You've got to love the trench! I am a trench coat fanatic. I can infact see one infront of me as I type this. And upstairs the new love of my life a green Burberry trench(from a discount outlet, got to love the purse too).
Those are some gorgeous takes on the trench, all right.
Yay, I love your 100% thrifted pick! It's so funny, during the last days, I have also been thinking about looking for a trench coat. I adore the 3rd picture from the top (I have seen it on Garance Dore and I was in awe, I loved her whole outfit!)
Love that first look, impressive to 100% thrift. I live in my trenches, a tweed for winter and my lighter beige for warmer days.
I like what Mary Catherine said - an outdoor cardigan. I've often thought of them as drab, but these are definitely fab!
Is that first girl also wearing a little sweatshirt around her neck? It's like tennis prep, but backwards. I don't think I should like it...but I most certainly do.
I feel the same way! They get and cuter!
I'm head over heels for the
1st, 4th, & 5th pictures!
I live where we ahve warm weather all year round, so i can nver wear them!
oh hey! it's me! that's really wonderful, thanks for the nice compliments. those are definitely my favourite shoes, my mother bought them for me from naturalizer as a birthday gift. not only are they gorgeous, but comfortable too!
