Planet New Year, originally uploaded by missemma.peel.
While on the topic of New Years dresses, I wanted to share this amazingly adorable creation by missemma.peel. I see them all the time in thrift stores, cute little gems hidden within big ugly dresses. If only I had the skills, ala Andie with her prom dress in Pretty in Pink, to set them free.Well, this gal’s obviously got the skills and was definitely looking Ravishing in Red on New Years Eve after unearthing this gem of a dress from what she describes as "a gigantuously hideous thing with puffed and tapered sleeves". With her red hair and the black accents it’s perfect, so nicely done!

I too was stunned by her creation!!
And like you also see so many 'ooh I could take that in, and move that up there, and cut that bit off' and after carrying it around the store for 20 minutes end up putting it back because i've come to the reaslisation that it will actually just sit in my 'to sew' pile and end up being redonated once I don't end up 'to sewing' it.
Oh well at least we have people like emma to show us what they have the patience to do :)
Missa, me too! I am always amazed when people see diamonds in the rough when all I can see is ... rough. She looks smashing in this reworked wonder, and I'm so impressed.
You know, even though I'm more confident with my sewing, I still struggle to see potential when I'm at the thrift store. At the moment, I'm better at picking out fabric I like that might be used for a smaller project (like purses or place mats) then transforming clothes into *better* clothes....
amazing.
she is one stylist chic! and to reconstruct a tent into this is stellar!
