Watching my pre-school teacher get the pumpkin carving started... things were about to get real messy!
It's pretty obvious, but in case you weren't sure, that's me holding hands with the little girl in pigtails, whose hem is somehow miraculously even shorter than mine! I remember being related to her and the little girl next to her in some way, second cousins I think.
This is the earliest Halloween I really have memories of. I was four years old, just a year older than Clover. My costume was Raggedy Anne that year. I really wish I had a better picture, but here's a little peek...
My mom made the costume. I remember going to the fabric store with her and trying to find just the right yarn for the hair :)
Still have some last minute costume preparations to get done for tonight and last minute pumpkin carving too. I'm such a procrastinator.
Happy Halloween to you all!

Oh, I love these photos! Look how cute you are! I don't know if there was ever a Raggedy Ann costume in my childhood, but I do remember having a wonderful oversize Raggedy Ann stuffed doll, that had been handmade by a cousin.
i was raggedy anne last year but my costume was nowhere near as cool as this homemade cutie pie! i realized that i often dress up as something kiddish, (raggedy, pippi)... hmmmmm, guess i am obviously not quite ready to grow up!
i love early halloween memories, kinda fadey and haunting like a dream. how rad would it have been to be a 70s preschool teacher. good luck today! weird to think clover might remember this day sometime down the line! can't wait to see how she dresses up.
oh my lord! you look just the same! that is crazy! so cute. thanks for sharing. i love old halloween pictures.
adorable! could pick you out of that first picture in a heartbeat with that hair! xx
So cute! Happy Halloween, Missa!
aww hehehe. these are great!
How is it possible, that you still look like your pic of mini-you? I looked like a boy. I loved Raggedy-Anne as a kid, but don't remember all that much about her. boo. HAve fun this halloween! Oh, and I have seen Date Night...HILARIOUS!!! (especially loved the opening scene with the kids piling on the bed - too close to the truth!)
My fondest memory of all of my Halloweens are the costumes that I wore - my mom made them all and I got to help pick out fabrics and trimmings. Such excitement for a little girl (well, a big girl too!). I'm sure your Raggedy Ann was adorable. :)
happy halloween, missa! hope you and clover have fun tonight! my stepson is being a plain ol' ghost; he was going to be a ghost a la charlie brown in the peanuts halloween special ("i got a rock"), but decided against it at the last second...kids! :) love the 70s pics of you!
these photos are wonderful!
i see that you have had lovely long hair practically forever!
happy halloween!
I love that you rocked the Raggedy Ann too ;) Hope you had a sweet on this year!
Your teacher reminds me of my old kinder teacher Mrs Eckles. Looks just like her! We did a pumpkin in class then they roasted the seeds and we made our own butter. I just remember both tasting so yummy to me. LOVE this post!!!! You were cute then as you are now!!
Sweet little tiny you! So cute!!! I have a super similar dress to the girl who you're holding hands with. It was my 4T dress that I put on Olivia the other day and my hubby said "uh uh, that's wayyy too short!" I laughed as I used to wear it like that! It was the style! (haven't visited your blog in a while- 1 million comments today) :D
