Better Banking

Mossy Bricks

I love this wall. Some of you may recall having seen it before, in this post I did last summer about a visit to the nearby town of Petaluma. We were there again on Sunday and stopped for a little outfit documentation while walking along the riverfront. Thanks to Lucas, my ever-reluctant partner in outfit documentation ;)

The Color of Wine

Also regarding thanks, and said outfit, I must send out a big ol’ thank you to the lovely Jocelyne, who, while cleaning out her closet recently, was sweet enough to think of me and to think that I might enjoy some of the pieces she was ready to let go of. She was so right! This vintage top and skirt are from the package she sent which also contained some other really great pieces likely to pop up in future outfit posts. Thanks so much Jocelyne!

The belt I wore came with this vintage skirt. I like the way it appears to be two separate belts from the front and it goes so well with this skirt.

Also of note on the outfit front: my first outing in the most amazing shoe find I’ve had of late! These ESPRIT open-weave lace-up flats will be a go-to pair this Spring for sure. They’re a bronzy metallic leather and in perrrrfect condition. $4 at the New To You Thrift :)

giddy-up

Of course we had to stop in for a browse at the fun and fanciful store HeeBe JeeBe. Look at how big Clover is getting… this was taken on the same horse in July! She’s looking and acting more and more like a little kid rather than a toddler every day :)

Mama tried on some fake glasses, which I actually kinda like. Hmm, I am long overdue for a new prescription pair, a possible style to consider?

Clover, with a little help from papa, tried on a fuzzy pink backpack. Though getting it back off again took some convincing… she’s all about the pink fuzzy stuff these days.

So true.

Also, let it be known that I am not the only lucky lady in our little family to recently benefit sartorially from the kindness and generosity of my lovely readers!

Another big ol’ thank you goes out to this sweet gal, who happens to own a vintage shop and after reading this post, sent a package for Clover with two ADORABLE vintage dresses, one being this sweet blue corduroy jumper, AND the most precious vintage nightgown I’ve ever seen! Honestly, it’s way cuter than any of the ones I had as a kid. I’ll have to take a picture of her wearing it because it’s so cute and she really loves it!

Now for the whole reason we went to Petaluma in the first place:

Yes! We finally made it to the Seed Bank! An historic old bank building full of all kinds of amazing heirloom seeds, everything from Artichoke to Zinnias, and all open-pollinated, pure, natural and non-GMO. How awesome is that?

What is it about seed packets that makes them such a delight to behold? Looking at the pretty illustrations on the front, reading the fun or clever or exotic plant names, and the sounds… the wonderful soft shaking sounds they make when you pick them up… all combined with the promise of sustenance held in each little pack. A seed by it’s very nature is a magical thing… little packets of magic they are!

Lucas and I had to take turns being delighted though, as this place required some serious Clover patrol. All she wanted to do was run from one end of the building to the other, that is when she wasn’t grabbing all the packets of magic she could get her little paws on!

Our bounty included a few types of greens, several melons, golden beats, and birdhouse gourds. We usually plant our garden from starts, but we’re looking forward to trying out some seeds this year.

Speaking of sustenance and bounty… I’ll leave you with this photo of my wonderful bread-baking husband’s handiwork from Sunday afternoon. So pretty and soooo yummy!

Hey you're very maturely dressed! ;P
I love the skirt and those shoes are a treasure to be held. Clover's ensemble is super chic and french too. But where's Lucas' outfit shot?! Only kidding, seriously though, that bread looks yummety and the seed bank so fun. I'm envious of the melons, I think it would be hard to grow one here. Maybe in the hot box...

I love fake glasses. I would wear them all the time if I didn't feel a bit silly, since I don't need them.

Oh my, Clover is growing like a weed! Not to jinx your planting ;) That seed bank is fabulous, what a fantastic repurposing of a gorgeous old building. And those Esprit shoes, an amazing find and so versatile!

cute peieces she sent (aww). Really enjoy that it's a double belt and not two sperate belts, though may be worth emulating with two belts ;)

Oh my! golden beets? Souds yummy. Clover looks fabulous in the stripes and the dress, I wish I had a grown up version of that dress all for my self, or if not, I wish I would sink like Alice so that I could be Clover's size :P What a magical place, a building all for seeds? I'd never heard of that ever. I'm amazed! Wonder if they even have a place like that here in Canada :P
