Stop! Clovertime!

Mom-ster

Lucas snapped this shot of us yesterday, just before we headed out the door to storytime at the library. There's nothing particularly thrifty about my cozy mom-ster get-up (just old conventionally purchased stuff) except for the hoodie, but as I'm sure is quite obvious, I'm not really the point in this post...

... and neither is Elmo, though it kinda looks as though he thinks he might be. No, no Clover is the star of the show here, along with her adorable vintage dress, of course. Soft red corduroy with quilted detailing (blue w/ teeny white polka dots)... oh, how I wish I had one in my size.

I did a lot of thrifting for her back when I was pregnant after we found out she was going to be a girl (I'm sure you're shocked) and this is one of those items that's just been waiting in the closet for her to grow up. Well, it's day has come and this was her first time wearing it.

Also, as a bonus for the Clover fans out there, I thought I'd throw in these pics that I took when I dropped her off at The Farm this morning:

Pancake Pajama Day at Preschool!

Today was the much-anticipated Teddy Bear Pajama Pancake Party! All the kids came in their PJ's and brought a stuffed animal from home. When I left they had just made capes for their animals (I've never seen ballet kitty look so ready to go fight crime) and were gearing up to make pancakes with all the fixin's, lucky!

On a side note, while Clover still looks a-DORA-ble in her synthetic cartoon-y nightie (Thanks Mom!)...

Whatever happened to the sweet lil' flannel nightgowns of yore? They are near impossible to find these days.

You know, like the ones I used to wear when I was a kid, back in the day, when I could be found wielding my CCOUS (candy cane of unusual size, that is) on Christmas morning.

Ha! We got those things every year and there's a picture of my younger sister somewhere with the thing shoved entirely into her mouth, it's classic.

When I was living in Sonoma County (sniff sniff!) I got tons of vintage patterns from The Legacy-- there are boxes of kids patterns and they are usually 5-25 cents a piece. Score! Also, just wanted to say how lovely little Clover is, I miss working with Jessica and having her tell me that she saw you two (again) at the library...

There are some great vintage and retro kids things around - I'll have to look for some for the etsy shop I'm in the process of setting up as they do look very cool. Love Clover's dress :)

Fighting Ballet kitty is cute - I still have a teddy in a tutu I was given when I was young, though sadly she is a little worse for wear :(

Aww Clover is the cutest!! I always want to buy cute little kids clothes when I see them but I have no idea when I will have kids even though I want them badly. Maybe I should just start buying them! I will send your package soon, I swear. I can be slow......

That candy cane probably didn't last as long as one might think...
I'll keep my eye out for a victorian style flannel nightie for Cloverkin. I had one too, up until I was 12 and loathed the damn thing, but lo-an-behold it looks kinda cool now...
ps. When we come visit I want an outing with Mexico Missa ;)

i'm a huge clover fan, so thanks for the post! what a fun idea for pancakes & pjs. two of the best parts of most mornings, then you throw in a gaggle of cutie pies, too much :)

i think I got a new plaid flannel nightgown every christmas just like that one in the pattern. i did see a few this year, I think they are making a comeback.

You are inspiring me to hit the thrift stores for more outfits Lena will grow into! And I LOVED those flannel nightgowns growing up, I wore them for the longest time. Now everything is unisex PJs, which are comfy or course, but a little girlyness is good too!

Clover is sooo cute! When I was going through my patterns this morning I found the one that I made all my girl's nightgowns out of. I almost put it in my giveaway, but held it out at the last minute because I figured I might make a couple for my granddaughters. I am glad now because I really should sew they some!

Oh, Clover is just as adorable as ever!!! That dress is completely wonderful. I'm always the tiniest bit jealous when I thrift something very good for Ava - she has a few goodies that would look very nice in my size.

I love Clover's outfit! You are so lucky that she goes for your choices and wears night gowns. My daughter was usually not interested in the clothes that I picked for her and would insist on wearing her brother's old pj's. Thank-goodness she now likes most of what I find. My Mum had the same night gown pattern and I can't believe how funny that candy cane is.
