Beach Day

A Seat on the Sand

Smiles :)

We spent the day with friends at Doran Beach in Bodega Bay on President’s Day. The guys surfed, the gals hung out on the beach with the kidlets, we roasted hot dogs over the campfire for lunch, and a good time was had by all :)

A Dance on the Dunes

Foggy Skies, Salty Air, Sandy Feet

I wore the blue and white gingham print jumper that arrived in my birthday package from Milla (perfect for sandy beach adventures!) and Clover wore a sweet vintage dress thrifted by her aunt.

Despite some fog, it was a beautiful day and fun to frolic through the dunes and play barefoot in the sand for the first time in months.

That afternoon, as the fog burned off, a friend of a friend happened by and decided to join us. He went off in search of some large driftwood logs and then proceeded to erect a super cool beach hut using an actual parachute that he had in his truck. It was like a cross between a tee-pee and a circus tent.

The kids were in awesome-beach-fort-heaven!

This dedication plaque was on the wind barricade at our hang-out spot:

WORD, indeed.

:D

Precious pix! Love your outfit...
I was thinking about you as I just posted about a week's worth of thrifted clothing - tunics, cardigans and leggings, etc. Only thing I'm missing is the beach!

This is like stills from a some wonderful movie, or a catalogue enticing me to buy simple, laid-back surfer-hippie wear. That pic of Clover and Lucas is beyond precious.

The picture of you & clover is pure preciousness :) and that guy had a parachute in his trunk? that's awesome and crazy all at once, but I hope after sticking driftwood into it he plans to retire it.

Beach huts, dresses, kids, saving money, country and western music, food, style, alternative lifestyle, and all just on the first page...what's not to like, my girlfriend will love this.
I do a beach hut blog and came to you that way.Feel free to google for msbnews.co.uk and the more informal blog web.mac.com/beachhutman
My web sites are like a man's shed, yours is like a real home. Congratulations. You set the standard.

P.S. Word.

Word. Sorry, I was just dying to say that ;) You take the best pictures. You've got to love beaches and tents. I feel like staying in one now - the only one I've ever actually stayed in was in our living room as a kid - and New Zealand is such a campish place - might have to rectify this omission sometime soon!

I know I commented on flickr already but truly--this looks like such a perfect, heavenly day. Even with the skies looking very much like typical northwest skies!

Such amazing pictures. You have such an adorable family! Your outfits completely complement each other and the scenery. I'm glad Clover enjoyed the pictures of Bea and her tricycle:)

That looks like so much fun! My husband hasn't surfed in years. I miss how we used to go to the beach when we were young and I would watch him ride the waves.

Hola! Saludos desde Costa Rica. I just tripped with your blog today. I love it. Your are amazing, my hero from now on. I suddenly feel the urge of going for a shop sprint into the neareast thrift store (we call them: Americanas or Tiendas de Ropa Americana). Any advice on the subject?
Bye.
