Sound the Trumpets

Under the Trumpet Vine

Taking the new dress out for a spin.

Sundrenched Swirl

The Wish

As you can see, I quite literally took the new dress out for a spin on Sunday. It’s become a fast favorite and what better way to show off a gorgeous Gunne than with a good sun drenched swirl! I learned that from the best, you know, and our newly blooming trumpet vine provided the perfect back drop :)

This was to be my 4th of July festivities outfit, so I added the red and white felted flower hair clip, beautifully crafted by Anne, and my old cheapo red maryjanes (not thrifted) to go with my blue florals.

Our friends Joey and Laura Jane, you remember them, pulled off another awesome 4th of July Party. This year’s was bigger and better than ever.

Julianne and I are always the ones running around with our cameras in hand at these sorts of events and will often end up taking pictures of the same thing at the same time. In this case, the girls having an impromptu dance party in the living room.

Out back it was all about the beer and the BBQ.

Plenty of sweet moments to be captured too, complete with color theme. I loved that Clover’s little bestie Lilia’s flaming curls provided the red to go with her adorable blue and white outfit. How cute are those boots, btw?!

Laura Jane’s collection of homemade hoops strewn throughout the yard brought hours of entertainment for the little ones!

Garden Hoopin'
Ok, maybe not just the little ones ;)

Clover was surrounded by all of her closest friendlets and cousins, pretty much running wild and having the time of her life the whole time. This was a rare sitting still moment.

As the sun went down, fairy lights were lit, candles set aglow, and a fire built to rage in the outdoor fireplace. Soon the night air was filled with excited squeals as the fireworks show, conveniently set off right down the street, began and we all rushed out to the front yard for the best view...

Happy Fourth of July, indeed :)

It looks like a lovely day indeed! Love your floral dress (with the Anne flower and all- aren't those so cute?!)

I used to be able to hula hoop... haven't done it for quite some time :)

I am getting a vicarious thrifting high over that dress.
And --more importantly, of course ;) -- I am glad that you and yours enjoyed a lovely fourth.

awww, you seem to have the best group of friends and family hanging out over there! i LOVE that clover gets to run amock with her adorable cousins; the little blondie in the orange dress almost looks like she could be her sister! and you looked MARVELOUSLY LOVELY. i'm jealous you can hula hoop - seems like something i'd be good at with the hips and all, but i can't do it! happy fourth. despite all the weird and yucky stuff, i think it's a good year to be an american because i like to think the times they are a-changin. here's to hope, love and FUN!

Sounds like a great occasion - and I love the gunne sax dress. You look like you've stepped out of a 1970's film, but with a modern twist!

Hula hoops are for everyone!

I love seeing Clover having the time of her life! Her outfit is amazing too. I want to replicate that. It seems folks always comment on your patriotism or how 4th of July an outfit is if it's red, white, and blue. But really those colors just look so good together!

Fun, fun times. I implore you once again to give thanks for being so near so many family and friends :-)

(And for scoring one of the sweetest Gunnies ever at a thrift store!)
