My Saturday

I suddenly seem to own lots of blue clothing.

I wore my newly thrifted bow blouse ($3, Goodwill) out for the first time to a party/yard sale (why are there not more of these?). It's handmade 70's vintage and the print is really lovely. The skirt was a thrifty gift from my mother-in-law. The little leather belt ($1.50, Mission Thrift) I love because it works with everything and happens to match these boots, old thrifted favorites that they are, quite nicely.

This is our friend Joey… rad style, no? He and his team, collectively known as Whiskeydrunk Cycles, threw an awesome block party/fundraising event to drum up some cash for the building of their railcar entry for this year's Handcar Regatta in September.

There was live music, kegs of beer, wholesome foods such as doughnuts and hotdogs, and flea market-style vendor booths… what more do you need on a Saturday afternoon, right? The vendors were selling everything from old bikes to unicorns (you‘ll see).

Here's last year’s rail-rod, the Thennagin Bomber, made road-ready, and here it was in action during the races last year.

There’s a large hairclip and 8 bobby pins hiding in there, in case you were wondering ;)

Our friends Lucie of Luce Goods and Melissa of My Friend Melissa, selling their handmade wares. Cute gear for both babies and bikers! Check out a few of my fave items. Both take email orders, plug plug ;)

Sorry girls, I realize Matt and Heather are totally stealing your thunder in the picture I took. Lucie and Melissa would be the girls on the left and right respectively, whose faces are totally hidden, oops!

Last but certainly not least…

The Sebastopol vintage shop East of Eden had a booth. A good amount of time was spent perusing and as you can see from that third pic, I wasn’t the only one loving the vintage that day : )

Unfortunately, the prices were vintage shop prices, not flea market prices, though I did splurge on one dress, a little white eyelet number that was just too good to leave behind, and at $25 it was actually one of the better deals.

You can get a little sneak peek here.

And here’s a little snippet of Clover enjoying her find of the day, just look at that grin… a dollar well spent I’d say!

Clover is just so cute, haha, that unicorn sure made her happy.

ooooh what's that thing with the shark detail? A blazer? That is fantastic!

It looks like a very lovely day! I wish we had events like this here. As far as I know, there is always a huge flea market on Queen's Day here where I live. I have always been in germany for Queen's Day, so I have never celebrated it before, but this year, I'll definitely stay here!

Don't kids just LOVE hiding in clothing racks. My children do it, and I remember doing it too.

This is a pretty amazing idea. My town has one street that organizes a massive garage sale together, but a block party garage sale is a wonderful idea!

clover is cute in amongst the thrift! The first pic of you is very Forest Gump, you look like the character Ginny (spelling??)

That shark blazer wouldn't have been perfect for the shop, it would have been perfect for me, hehe. But since it was probably a little expensive, considering that the prices were on vintage store level, I probably couldn't have afforded it, anyway :(

I'm pretty sure that ALL of my cowgirl inspiration comes from you, Missa. And man, it must've been hard to leave some of those goodies behind. Teal boots! Sigh ...

My gosh how lovely an event! I love how the pictures turned out. My gosh that picture of the many belts is magical! I'm very much inlove with it. Looks like you had a blast. I wish I was as little as Clover so I could hide underneath dresses hanging like that! I miss hiding beneath the dresses in my grandma's closet. :)
A very very sweet Saturday :]

Yard sale parties are dangerous business! Especially when mimosas are served and I am convinced to buy dozens of things I don't need. :)

Love your outfit. xo

FUN!! Funny I am planning a little sidewalk sale and have invited friends to bring things too. I want to turn it into a excuse to have ladies over. That looks like a great little shopping experience. I know it's hard to pay prices like that when you are a experienced thrifter like us, but when it's something really good, it's worth it. Your outfit is so good, It makes me want to break out the sh*@ kickers too! :)

ohmigosh look at all of those vintage bicycles! I would die to take one of those home to add to our (very small) collection. In Aus, those things sell like crazy on ebay! There mustn't be enough of them around or something. Also, love your outfit, in particular new bow blouse, very cute!

Clover rocks! And in your face to the meanie bo-beenie commentator who said you dress like a kid! (Like there's something wrong with that anyway!)

You look very mature and groovy, in fact like my favorite kind of mature groovy person: A 70s teacher!

clover's dreamy little smile is the cutest thing ever! i totally agree, by the way, that there need to be more yard sale parties. one year we had a big st. patrick's day yard sale called the "pot of gold sale" with brightly handmade flyers and we had a cooler full of guinesses and gave candy to people who wore green and played loud music. it was super fun....cheap rummaging and that party vibe go hand in hand. speaking of which, your outfit was so pretty and perfect for a rummage sale, that skirt is killing me.

Oh, Sweet Clover! I love when the little things make them happy!

My little Olivia (3 1/2) just saw the Clover video and asked, "Is she my friend" :)
