Meteor Shower
Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
Unfortunately, mine was cut short by an overwhelmed two-year-old who refused to wear her thrifted Winnie the Pooh costume and found adults in spooky attire just a little too much to bear (har-har). Ah well, there's always next year, and at least I was really pleased with how my costume turned out.
Talk about a versatile Halloween dress, there were so many different directions I could have gone with it. I'm sure I'll be wearing this dress in various incarnations for years to come. It was actually in the Christmas section of the crafts store though, where inspiration struck.
When I came across the glittery silver star tree toppers and then that shiny-sequined spray on the headpiece. Some wire, a black headband, silver pipe cleaners, and a few safety pins later... voila, I'm an astronomical phenomenon!
P.S. Just a quick thanks to my lovely readers for all the wonderful comments on my previous post! So many of you shared your own personal experiences with thrifting and why you love it and I've really been enjoying reading them, so thanks! You guys are awesome :)

No, no. YOU're awesome.
I agree! Your Halloween costume is the best. Halloween pretty much passed me by, I'm afraid - but I did eat some pumpkin that day and we had a couple of cute kids trick or treating :)
I love it.
That is such a cooooool costume.Very creative. I would have given you the "best costume" award.
All I can say is WOW!!! What an incredible costume!!! Sadly Halloween isn't big here in Oz, I've been enjoying living vicariously through other bloggers' Halloween adventures though :-)
This has to be my favourite Halloween costume so far. You're so creative and that dress works so well with it all. You sort of look like a space goddess :)
I love your halloween costume!! So clever :)
what a fantastic costume with such wonderful sleeves! it kinda makes me think of a wizard. what a shame winnie the pooh was cranky for halloween. hopefully she was able to get a little bit of candy!
what a FABULOUS look and that picture should be framed on your wall PRONTO.
your costume is sooo awesome! i give it an A+++
this is the first year we actually didn't have any crying or super sacred children. i totally understand what you said, the last few years i've held a very frightened daughter. can't say i blamed her though, some of the masks are pretty gross and scary. hope you had a fun night anyway :)
pretty much the best costume ever.
SO. VERY. BRILLIANT!
i am completely amazed by your creativity!
bravo!!!!
What a fabulous, unique idea for a costume.
Your poor lil one, too bad she was so overwhelmed. I absolutely love your dress. I like the creative idea for the costume too, it looks really neat and perfect with the sparkles and the shooting starts.
oh poor Clover - you look amazing!
such a smart costume, so creative and pretty!
sorry to hear about your two year old! maybe they'll wear it as pj's :)
what a fabulous idea for a costume!
Your costume has slaped me with joy! Oh my goodness pipe cleaners! How creative. I love how much you worked on your costume, I feel quite shity about mine now hhaha, but at least it wasn't store bought. You look as magestic as the night sky at a camping site. I have a craving to listen to Pink Floyd right now, thanks :]
Much peace and love, take care!
Oh, lovely costume idea! My mom used to sleep out on the trampoline with my brother and me every time there was a meteor shower. They are still my favorite thing ever.
Awww! Your little one! They are so sweet at that age - hope she recovered OK! Terrific costume - so fun and very warlocky/ witchy/ goddessy!
oh my goodness, such a great idea! lovely costume, funny how we both went spacey :))

amazing, this is so brilliant! love it. you'd think with a sky as big as Texas I'd get to see meteor showers or stars even but it's as if they get engulfed in the vastness and we never get to see them...can't wait 'til I move north again! Thanks for your comments on the blog, I'm with you as to why we do it...seems we all are a bit shy in reality...and you are definitely one hot mama!
xo,
Claire
such an amazing dress..
I could not adore your costume more.
And I share your feelings regarding thrifting. We had to when we were kids and Espirit would have been very much my preference. & while I don't forbid myself from shopping retail, I vastly prefer finding things used instead--for all the reasons you listed.
that video is beautiful
thanks for sharing it.
s'lovely!
