Brownie Points

Cookies anyone?

These pictures are actually from Friday... I've been a lazy blogger, sorry! The vintage romper which zips up the front was an $8 purchase from the flea market about a month ago.

As a fan of the increasingly popular nostalgic incorporation of vintage scout inspired elements into outfits, this romper caught my eye while browsing through a rack of vintage clothing. It reminded me of something a Brownie might wear if Brownies did indeed wear rompers, which I'm pretty sure they don't, but if they did... :)

New little hat :)

In keeping with the youthful inspiration, I topped the outfit off with a new find from Angel's Attic. The little red sailor hat ($1.50) is actually a vintage children's hat... yes, I have a small head! I bought it thinking it might be a fun, somewhat silly way to add a little splash of red to an outfit.

My own girl scout history consists of all of about three months as a Brownie in, I think, second grade. I never went on a camp out and I don't even think I sold any cookies, though I do still remember the oath and wearing the uniform with the brown skirt, knee socks, and sash.

I wonder if Clover will take to scouting one day. Did you notice her in the background of that second photo teaching her doll how to climb the tree? She's such a funny kid :)

And now for some topical inspiration... maybe one day I'll take the time to figure out how to make pretty image collages for this sort of thing, until then, happy scrolling ...

How awesome would it be to run into this tee shirt from 1976 in a thrift store?! I want!

What a cute little hat! I want to see it on Clover too, because then the cute factor would be off the richter.

I was a brownie too, but didn't really take to it - too much of a paramilitary organisation for me!

The little red hat is just the bee's knee-socks!

Loving those vintage girl scout pictures. So stylish. And that tent with the camp cots? Awesome. I never was a girl scout, but it sure does seem like the life... in the pictures.

That romper is adorable!

These pictures are inspiring! The last time I went home in Indonesia, I found my brother's old scout scarf - which would make a nifty fashion accessory! I kinda regret not bringing it with me.
Good thing I'm going home again soon ;)

Adorable! Scout looks are becoming such a trend it seems. And I think Clover will be into it if she teaches her dolls to climb trees, lol.

Fabulous outfit! I love all the illustrations accompanying your outfit photos too. I was never in the Brownies or Girl Guides or anything myself, though.

OMGosh you look amazing in that romper. You totally pull it off. The hat is the perfect accompaniment.

I hear that you can make the collages on a site called polyvore. I have not tried it yet, but I mean to.

Very sweet that Clover is teaching her doll to climb. I love watching my daughter be a little "mom" too.

That romper is adorable! And I love your inspirations so much :)

The sign was actually painted by my hostsister and her two cousins. When they were 10 or so, they were freakishly obsessed with Mario, haha.

You look adorable!!! Rivalling Debbie Harry down there for sure! I love rompers but can never fit them because I have such a long torso! Gah!! I shall live vicariously through you. ;) PS Scouting is so much fun for girls! I was in it from kindergarten through 4th grade-- after which the girls that remained all seemed to be... odd...
